Experience Williamsburg This Spring
Insider Tips for an Unforgettable Visit
Spring in Williamsburg is an awesome time to explore all that our historic town has to offer. As a long-time local, I'm excited to share some upcoming events at some of my favorite spots to help you make the most of your visit. Whether you're a history enthusiast or just looking for a weekend adventure, there's something here for everyone.
Spring Events & Local Happenings
No visit to Williamsburg is complete without exploring Colonial Williamsburg, or “CW” as the locals call it, the largest living history museum in the U.S. Highlights include…
Fife and Drum Corps
One of my favorite Colonial Williamsburg experiences. There’s usually a marching demonstration at 4:30 PM on Fridays and 12:30 PM on Saturdays, be sure to check the Colonial Williamsburg events calendar to confirm.
Ghost Tour
Spring evenings are perfect for a ghost tour. Haunted Williamsburg is the official Colonial Williamsburg experience, offering candlelight tours through historic sites at 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM (ages 8+). If you're up for more haunted history, several other local tour companies also run highly rated ghost walks, each with its own spin on Williamsburg’s spookiest stories. No matter which route you take, it’s a great way to experience the town after dark.
Farmers Market
Held on Saturday’s in Merchants Square from 8:00 AM to noon, this market features fresh produce, baked goods, and artisanal vendors. A perfect spot to grab a coffee and wander on a Saturday morning.
Spring welcomes the arrival of Leicester Longwool lambs!
These rare breeds, similar to our mascot Beau, are part of the preservation efforts reflecting 18th-century livestock. Visitors can observe these playful lambs in the historic pastures around Colonial Williamsburg - one of the pastures is only 1 mile from Rochambeau.
Williamsburg Winery
Just a short drive from Rochambeau, Williamsburg Winery is a must-visit for wine lovers. Not only do we feature a house red and house white collab wine in our lobby, but they also host fantastic events—including the WW Wine & Art Exhibition on March 22. This event showcases local artists, including some whose work hangs in our rooms!
Their on-site restaurant, Gabriel Archer Tavern, recently welcomed a renowned chef with experience at two Michelin-starred restaurants in Washington, DC. The patio, shaded by a trellis fully covered in vines, is a perfect spot if the weather allows. Pair a carefully curated meal with their award-winning wines for an unforgettable afternoon.
Busch Gardens' Sesame Street Kids' Weekends (March 22–April 20)
If you’re traveling with kids, these themed weekends feature interactive shows and activities with beloved Sesame Street characters. Busch Gardens Williamsburg operates primarily on weekends in early spring. Starting March 31, 2025, the park expands to include select weekdays.
Craft Beer Scene
Williamsburg has a thriving craft beer scene, and we’ve collaborated with some of the best breweries in town. If you’re a beer lover, check out these local breweries and their upcoming events:
Located less than 2 miles from Rochambeau, Virginia Beer Co. is a local favorite for craft brews and live music. Their taproom usually features music on Friday and Saturday nights, and they’re celebrating 9 years of brewing with their “FREEVERSEY” Anniversary Event on April 5 (2 PM–8 PM). Free admission, live music, and great local bites.
Pilsner Invitational (April 12, 12 PM–4 PM) – If you love crisp, refreshing pilsners, this event is worth the ticket. Featuring 15 breweries and unlimited tastings, it’s the ultimate beer lover’s afternoon. Billsburg sits right on the waterfront, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the spring weather.
